Google: Chaos in Accounts & Services Integration

googleaccounts The idea behind a Google Account is that you can use one single username and password to use various services that Google offers. However, Google Accounts continue to be in chaos due to a single user having various types of accounts in the form of Regular Google Accounts, Google Apps Accounts and Non-Gmail Google Accounts. Moreover the integration between Google’s own services leaves much to be desired.

Google Apps Account not a Google Account

Google Apps For Your Domain (GAFYD) is a wonderful service started by Google a couple of years ago providing free email, publishing & collaboration tools. What is not so wonderful is that there is no option to merge an account created within GAFYD with an existing Google account. In other words the Google Apps Account is different from a regular Google Account created by regular Gmail.

It is very simple & cheap to create your own online presence on the internet. All you need is around $10 per year. And you don’t need to know html or be too tech savvy. You only need to buy your own domain on a domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap and then use completely free services such as Google’s Blogger and Google’s Apps For Your Domain to host your website & email on your very own domain.
