Many times when you are purchasing something online, you would have noticed an option during Checkout to ‘Enter Discount Coupon” or to “Enter Promo Code”. If you don’t know what these are, chances are you are losing opportunities to get discounts on your online purchase. Read on to know how you can save money while buying online.
Where to find Discount Coupons?
There is a variety of online resources where one can find coupons and promo codes.
RetailMeNot is one of the largest such sites which has a database of deals from more than 15,000 stores. Simply go to RetailMeNot and search for the website or store name you are making the purchase from. You will instantly find multiple discount coupons which are basically alphanumeric codes which you can enter on the e-store and save money on your purchase.
Other popular discount sites include Dailyedeals and Currentcodes.
If any of these sites do not have a coupon for your site, then just do a Google search. Chances are you will find a coupon code for your site. Or if you already found a coupon on RetailMeNot, you could possibly get a better discount coupon through a Google search.
Note however that the coupon codes you find may not always be working coupons. In case the coupon has expired you will have to search for alternate coupons which work.
If you are using Firefox, then there is an addon available for RetailMeNot. The RetailMeNot Firefox addon will automatically notify you when coupon codes are available for the current website being viewed.
What amount of saving are we talking of ?
Depends. In some cases like buying a domain at GoDaddy which costs about US$10, you could get a discount of 25% which translates to just US$2.5. However in some cases such as buying a webhosting package at Dreamhost, you could get a discount of as much as US$97 on an annual package of US$119.
RetailMeNot has coupons for very popular sites such as eBay, Amazon & Snapfish.
So the next time you find a place to enter a coupon during an online shopping checkout, you know that you have an opportunity to save some moolah !

Whenever I go grocery shopping, I make it a point to remember bringing my coupons - but I forget half the time! With online shopping, at least, I can just copy and paste.
