Google has added the Gmail Labs functionality to its Gmail service. A collection of 13 new experimental features, Gmail Labs allows users to try out new features which Google wants to try out before they introduce it to the regular Gmail service. Unfortunately while the concept is super, the current features on offer are not.
Gmail Labs is a good concept but the 13 features they currently provide are lame. One would have expected Gmail Labs to offer more necessary functions such as whitelisting, folders in lieu of labels and ability to send mail from other accounts without attaching the “sent on behalf of” tagline in Outlook. Instead what Gmail Labs offer are pretty useless cosmetic changes none of which catch the attention of the power users.
Gmail wants you to try out new features as a beta tester. but considering that Gmail itself is in beta stage, its funny that Google wants you to experiment with new beta features before adding them to Gmail beta.
