You have decided to junk your old desktop and replace it with a brand new laptop? But now you are faced with the problem of deciding which laptop to buy? Don’t just go on searching for laptops across all brands. Make your search easier. Decide first on what is the screen size you want for your laptop and your choice making automatically becomes easier.
First you need to decide what display size is perfect for you. Display size determines not only the display space available for your viewing, it also determines the weight of your laptop, and hence its price. Thats becauseĀ a rule of the thumb is that smaller the display size, lighter the laptop and more expensive the price.
If you are going to use your laptop as a desktop replacement and do not intend to travel with it frequently, then you are better off with a 14 inch or 15 inch laptop. This is the most standard size for a laptop and between them whether to go in for 14 inch or 15 inch is merely a matter of personal choice.
If you are going to travel a lot and are comfortable with smaller display sizes, choose a 12 inch laptop.
In any case stay away from 11 inch laptops as their small display size can strain your eyes besides being very heavy on the pocket. 11 inch laptops should be only bought if the only intention is to travel a lot and connect it at various places to a projector for making presentations. And of course you need to have bucketfulls of cash at your disposal to buy them.
17 inch laptops should be purchased only if you intend to watch lots of movies and/or play lots of games and if you have no intention whatsoever of travelling with the laptop. It is a good desktop replacement for gamers and avid movie watchers.
And remember, now the only display sizes available in the market are widescreen displays. You no longer get displays with standard aspect ratios of 4:3
Once you decide on the display size and weight of the laptop, it will be easier to choose laptops of that particular display sizes across various brands. So go ahead and treat yourself with your dream laptop!!
