It is very easy to get a desktop assembled from your local computer vendor with a custom built-to-suit configuration. But now with laptops becoming more popular than desktops, it is hard to find someone who can actually assemble a laptop for you with a custom configuration. The result ? You are forced to choose from pre-configured laptops with a pre-determined combination of processor, RAM, Hard Disk, etc. But are you one of those who wouldn’t buy a laptop just because one specific feature is absent or just because one component is lower than your needs. Then buy Dell !
Dell provides you the option of configuring your laptop online with the exact processor, RAM, Hard Disk you have in mind. No other manufacturer provides you with that option. Other manufacturers provide multiple combinations of a particular model but the chances are that you will either not get a perfect combination in your budget and will end up overpaying for a higher configured combination in the process spending more for somethings you don’t need. Manufacturers like HP-Compaq don’t even allow the buyers to upgrade the OS from say Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows Vista Home Premium.
The downside of this is that you can’t pick up a Dell laptop off the shelves and there is a waiting time involved in the delivery process, but that’s a tradeoff most buyers don’t mind.
So if you want all things perfect, just configure your own laptop with Dell. Dell has recently made its laptops available for sale through retail stores like Walmart in the US and through Croma outlets in India. However even at these stores it is possible to configure your laptop just the way you want it!
